The Everlite EL8 headlamp from Newlite is a traditional hands-free LED light with a huge advantage:  a solar charger that can be used to power other electronic devices as well as recharge the light.

The Everlite EL8 contains a rechargeable lithium battery that provides enough juice for 12 hours of full-power light, and the small (2.5 by 4.5 inch) photovoltaic panel requires approximately 6 hours of sunlight to charge the headlamp.  The 5-LED light shines up to 60 feet, and features multiple options to maximize battery life including high power, low power, strobe, and dark-activated settings.

Everlite sells adapter accessories that allow the PV charger to be used with a wide range of electronic devices.  Which means that in addition to a headlamp that will never need replacement batteries (or a wall plug), users can power their cell phone, GPS unit, or iPod on the road or on the trail.

You can find the Everlite EL8 LED headlamp at Amazon.
