Monkey Bike LED Light

These LEDs will certainly draw attention to your bike! Monkey Electric Lights are programmable LED lights that attach to the wheel of your bike. Each Monkey Electric light has 32 bright LEDs, that can display thousands of different patterns as you ride.

Monkey Electric LEDs create the patterns as your wheels spin at speeds between 10 and 30 mph (15 to 50 km/h). The digital effects are customizable –  on-board buttons allow you to choose the colors and patterns.

Here’s a video of them in action:

Monkey Electric Lights cost $65 each.

There are several problems with Monkey Lights… first, they are not waterproof. Go through a puddle and kiss your $65 goodby.

Second, put one on your wheel and it throws your wheel out of balance. Put two on your wheel and get gibbrish. They do not communicate with one another so you get two patterns going at the same time… doesn’t look good.

And, if you try to contact the company, good luck! They don’t give you a phone number to call… basically saying to the customer, “Don’t bother us..”

Also, they may be brighter than Hokey Spokes but that is because they use more voltage. You have to change batteries every 24 hours or so. In addition, they don’t look good on your bike wheel. I believe one of their websites claims that as a positive (?) saying “No one will want to steal them…”
